Bridge to Hope—A Tents to Tiny Homes Community
Thanks to Marc Maurer, our Architect of Record, we now have a Guided Growth Plan with drawings for a longtime dream of many in our community. Bridge to Hope is a mixed use, Sanctioned Transitional Housing Community for our houseless neighbors providing a gated neighborhood setting that allows for healing from trauma in an environment that is safe, secure and nurturing. Many people in our community have been living rough, on the streets, for extended periods of time and need the time to again decompress and find their way forward safely to housing or a new start with family or a work opportunity elsewhere. Relieving this trauma includes a regular night time space to sleep uninterrupted and without fear of danger. The wait for truly affordable housing in our community is quite significant and has been for many years. Bridge to Hope provides a tenting area, indoor transitional as well as a Tiny Home component which allows people to make this transition over a self-paced period of time.
A family or individual can be referred to our neighborhood from their case manager and continue services with that case manager on site. The entire campus of Bridge of Hope includes community kitchen and dining area as well as an intake and meeting area where our neighbors can meet with all types of support personnel and become engaged in the community in a variety of ways. Perhaps a person has an interest in landscaping and grounds upkeep, food preparation and serving, cleaning, guiding others through the intake process, managing the laundry facilities, or being trained to do day care. Each person can have an active part in the neighborhood and find value in their contributions to the community. We feel the sense of belonging that is built into our model is key to the success of those we welcome to the neighborhood.
